“LOST” & “DESPERATE
Many fans had been waiting impatiently on a year like this one. Since it seemed clear, the Academy Of Television Arts & Sciences wasn't ready to acknowledge new shows, this year we laughed as they had no choice. With so many of the Emmy's favorites no longer eligible to compete, it was only a matter of time, until the voting members were forced to add some new blood to the mix. This time last year, nobody expected ABC to be the network to re-vitalize TV but the alphabet net were the ones that surprisingly took viewers on an amazing journey. When all was said and done ABC's triumphant one-two punch not only brought in the ratings, but also combined to bring in 27 nominations. Both “Desperate Housewives” & “Lost,” received the most nods in their respective genres. However, for every accomplishment, their seemed to have been some loss of ground. Case in point, a ridiculous 12 nominations for “Will & Grace.” The sitcom, which is clearly past its prime and on its way to rerun heaven, dominated the morning and left many fans clearly ticked. While UPN and The WB continue to be shutout, the door was opened for two shows fans had already been embracing. HBO continued its dominance with 3 nominations for “Entourage,” which is in route to make a solid impact on next year's nod list and NBC took in 4 nods for “Scrubs,” which included a nomination for Outstanding Comedy. The 57th Annual Emmy Awards are scheduled to be given out Sunday September 18, 2005
